Where is Governors Island located?

Governors Island is located in New York Harbor, just south of Manhattan. It sits between Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. The island is easy to see from the Statue of Liberty ferries. Even though it feels far away, it’s only a short ferry ride. The island covers about 172 acres of land. It offers great views of the Manhattan skyline and Brooklyn waterfront. Its location makes it a popular escape from the city.
