Luge at the 2026 Winter Olympics will take place at the Cortina Sliding Centre in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, from February 7 to February 12, 2026. The sliding centre’s new ice track is about 1,445 m long with 16 curves, designed specifically for luge, bobsleigh, and skeleton competition at the Games. There are five Olympic luge events: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and the mixed team relay, ensuring athletes compete in both individual and team formats. Singles races involve four timed runs over two days, and the fastest total time wins, while doubles use two runs in a single day. In the team relay, a woman’s single, a man’s single, and a doubles pair from the same nation race in succession, with a touchpad triggering the next sled. Luge athletes can reach speeds of up to 145 km/h (about 90 mph), making split‑second steering and precision critical in every run. Qualification for the Olympics comes through World Cup results and FIL rankings, and fans can already buy tickets for sessions, including hospitality packages. The sport has a strong Olympic history dating back to 1964 and remains one of the most thrilling sliding events on the Winter Games schedule.
