Nordic combined at the 2026 Winter Olympics will take place from February 11 to February 19, 2026, at two venues in northern Italy’s Dolomites region — Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium for the jumping portion and the Tesero Cross‑Country Skiing Stadium for the ski race portion. The sport combines two very different skills: ski jumping first, followed by cross‑country skiing, and the results of the jump determine start times for the ski race using the Gundersen method. There are three Olympic medal events planned: the individual Gundersen normal hill/10 km, individual Gundersen large hill/10 km, and the team sprint large hill/2 × 7.5 km format that replaces the older four‑athlete team event. In the team sprint, two athletes from each country jump and then ski alternating legs in a relay format of 7.5 km each. The Predazzo venue has been recently updated for big events and is a classic ski jumping destination, while Tesero is renowned for hosting major cross‑country races and can hold up to about 15,000 spectators. Qualification is based on performances in the FIS World Cup and Continental Cup seasons, with a reduced quota of 36 male athletes and a cap of three per nation, plus one host nation spot for Italy. Nordic combined has been part of the Winter Games since the very first edition in 1924 but remains one of the few Olympic sports contested only by men, with ongoing discussions about its future format. With strong teams from Germany, Austria, and other Nordic skiing nations, 2026 is set for intense competition across both jumping and skiing legs.
