Team Finland will compete at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, with 78 athletes across five sports including alpine skiing, biathlon, cross‑country skiing, figure skating and both men’s and women’s ice hockey. Finland’s participation continues its strong winter sports tradition, with especially deep fields in skiing and team events.
One of Finland’s biggest medal hopes comes in cross‑country skiing, where veterans like Krista Pärmäkoski — a multiple World Championship medallist — are expected to contend for medals in the distance events, potentially in what could be her final Olympic appearance. Newer stars like Jasmi Joensuu, fresh off a World Cup sprint title, add sprint podium potential and excitement for Finnish fans.
In biathlon, Finland qualified five men and five women through the World Cup standings, giving the nation solid representation in sprint, pursuit, relay and mass start events, where Finnish shooters and skiers hope to break into the top ranks.
Finland also secured Olympic spots in figure skating, including women’s singles and ice dance with Juulia Turkkila and Matthias Versluis, bringing artistic and competitive depth to the squad.
Ice hockey remains one of Finland’s major medal ambitions: both the men’s and women’s teams qualified and will compete in group play, with the men’s squad featuring NHL talent such as Sebastian Aho, Miro Heiskanen, Mikael Granlund and others aiming to defend Finland’s Olympic gold pedigree. While captain Aleksander Barkov is out due to injury, the roster includes strong forwards like Eeli Tolvanen, Oliver Kapanen and Joel Kiviranta who add scoring depth.
The women’s hockey team also looks competitive, earning its place via this year’s qualification and eyeing a spot in the medal rounds against top international opponents.
In alpine skiing, Finland’s quotas are smaller, but athletes like Eduard Hallberg and others earned spots through basic quotas and selection rounds, adding representation on the challenging Italian slopes.
Overall, Team Finland brings a balanced mix of seasoned Olympians and rising talents, with skiing and hockey as its headline medal opportunities — and fans will be watching closely to see if the Finns can convert that promise into podium success in 2026.
