Team Sweden at the 2026 Winter Olympics

Team Sweden is set to compete at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, with around 91 athletes expected to represent the nation across six sports including cross‑country skiing, biathlon, curling, figure skating, ice hockey, and alpine skiing. Sweden’s Olympic Committee has discussed a target of around 20 medals, building on the country’s strong results at the 2022 Beijing Games where it won 18 medals.

In cross‑country skiing, Sweden boasts a powerful team with stars like Ebba Andersson, Frida Karlsson, Jonna Sundling, Edvin Anger, and William Poromaa, all of whom have delivered strong World Cup and World Championship performances. Andersson recently won gold at the Nordic Ski World Championships, highlighting Sweden’s medal potential.

Sweden’s biathlon squad includes a deep group of competitors likely to challenge in sprint, pursuit, and relay races, with past Olympic medallists among the lineup aiming to stand on the podium again.

Curling is another major strength for Sweden, with Team Edin leading the men’s event and Team Hasselborg competing in the women’s tournament — both teams are internationally acclaimed and expected to contend for medals.

In ice hockey, Sweden’s men’s and women’s teams both qualified, and the men’s squad includes NHL talent such as Rasmus Dahlin, Gabriel Landeskog, and William Nylander, bringing experience and star power as NHL players return to the Olympics for the first time since 2014. Despite surprise omissions like Emil Heineman, the roster remains strong.

The figure skating team includes historic entries like Nikolaj Majorov and Milla Ruud Reitan in ice dance — Sweden’s first Olympic ice dance team — adding artistic and competitive flair to the squad.

Sweden’s alpine skiing representation is smaller but features top racers such as Anna Swenn Larsson and Sara Hector, both capable of strong runs and top‑10 results on technical courses.

Overall, Team Sweden mixes experienced campaigners and rising talents with a strong medal outlook in skiing, shooting, curling, and hockey, making it one of the most watched and competitive teams at Milano Cortina 2026.
