You can see Phil’s Burrow pretty much any time from the sidewalk or outside viewing window because that part is open 24/7. For the indoor viewing window inside the library, you’d have to visit when the Punxsutawney Memorial Library is open, which is usually during regular daytime hours on weekdays and some weekend hours. Because it’s part of the library building, hours can vary by season and special events, so it’s smart to check the library’s schedule before you go. Even if the inside is closed, you can still see Phil snoozing or moving around from the outside window without any fee. The burrow doesn’t charge for entry; it’s just part of the town’s love for their famous groundhog. Early morning or weekday visits tend to be less crowded if you want a quieter experience. During Groundhog Day week, though, expect more tourists and maybe longer waits to get a good look. The town fills up fast around February 2 because Phil’s big weather prediction event draws crowds from all over.
