The 2017 Doklam standoff was a high-profile incident when the Chinese military started building a road in the disputed territory, which Bhutan objected to and India moved to block in support of Bhutan’s claim. This led to a tense face-off between Indian and Chinese troops that lasted about two months at the border area near Doklam.
