Pyongyang has a bunch of big, unique landmarks that reflect its history and politics more than typical city tourism. The Juche Tower is one of the tallest structures in the city and celebrates the country’s official ideology of self-reliance. You can also check out the Korean Central History Museum to see displays of Korean history from early times to the present. Mansudae Grand Monument and the Korean Revolution Museum are places where huge statues and exhibits tell the story the state wants you to see. The Pyongyang Metro isn’t just a subway — many stations look like ornate halls with chandeliers and mosaics that feel kind of like an underground art gallery. Other spots like traditional pavilions, parks, and even state department stores show different sides of urban life in the city. This mix of plazas, monuments, and museums gives visitors a snapshot of local culture and history.
