Legion Field currently seats roughly 71,000 fans in its big bowl setup, which makes it one of the larger historic stadiums in the region. Over its long life, the venue’s capacity has changed a lot as stands were added or removed during renovations. At its peak in the 1980s and 1990s, the stadium could hold over 83,000 people for major football games and big events. Today’s seating still gives you that huge crowd feel for classics like the Magic City Classic or high school football rivalries. Even with some sections scaled back from earlier eras, a full house still feels huge and packed with energy. Because of its size, it’s been chosen for everything from college bowls to professional league games in the past.
