What teams have played at Legion Field?

Over the years, Legion Field has been home or host to a bunch of football teams at different levels, which is part of why it’s such a legendary venue. In its early history it regularly hosted major college teams like Alabama and Auburn for big rivalry games, including the Iron Bowl for many years. The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Blazers football team also played home games there from their start in 1991 through the 2020 season. In past decades the stadium even hosted teams from pro leagues like the USFL, WFL, CFL, and others. Local high school teams use it too, especially for big games and playoffs. Today the Magic City Classic’s teams play there every year, drawing fans from across the Southeast. The long list of tenants and visitors just shows how much football history this place holds.
