What is Fort Lesley J. McNair and where is it located?

Fort Lesley J. McNair is a U.S. Army post located in southwest Washington, D.C., right on a peninsula where the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers meet. It sits in an area known as Buzzard Point, just a few miles from major landmarks like the White House. The base is part of Joint Base Myer–Henderson Hall and plays a key role in military operations in the capital. It’s not a typical tourist spot because it’s an active military installation with restricted access. The fort is home to important institutions like the National Defense University and other defense-related organizations. Because of its location, it’s also used at times as a landing zone for Marine One helicopters. Overall, it’s a historic and strategic site right in the heart of Washington, D.C.
