Where is Selawik Lake located?

Selawik Lake is located in northwestern Alaska, near the town of Selawik in the Northwest Arctic Borough. It sits just above the Arctic Circle, so the environment there is very remote and wild. The lake is part of the larger Selawik National Wildlife Refuge, which protects huge areas of wetlands and tundra. There are no roads leading directly to the lake, so most access is by small plane or boat during the warmer months. The surrounding region is home to Indigenous communities that have lived there for generations. Because of its location, it feels very untouched and far from modern infrastructure. It’s one of those places where nature is basically in full control.
