The climate around Selawik Lake is Arctic, which means long, very cold winters and short, cool summers. Winter temperatures can stay well below freezing for months, with snow and ice covering the landscape. Summers are short but bring milder temperatures, usually just warm enough for wildlife activity and travel. During summer, the sun stays out for long hours, creating almost nonstop daylight.
