Tariff policy keeps shifting, with new levies biting and others delayed

The administration’s broad tariff regime continued to ripple through consumer-goods supply chains. A new round of duties on Canadian and other imports added cost pressure for retailers. Business groups warned of pass-through price hikes into the holiday season. Separately, planned increases on some China goods were delayed again amid negotiations. Economists noted the overall tariff burden is at multi-decade highs. Importers are adjusting sourcing and hedging to manage uncertainty.
