What are the main climbing routes on Mount Everest?

The two main climbing routes on Mount Everest are the southeast ridge from Nepal and the north ridge from Tibet. The southeast ridge is the most frequently used route and passes through the South Col and Khumbu Icefall. The north ridge offers a more technical climb with harsher weather conditions. Both routes require careful preparation, acclimatization, and experienced guides. Climbing seasons are typically in spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) when conditions are relatively safer.
