Babylon was ruled by a series of kings and dynasties throughout its history. The most famous ruler was King Hammurabi, known for his legal code, one of the earliest in recorded history. Another prominent king was Nebuchadnezzar II, who expanded the city and built many monumental structures. Other rulers included the Kassite dynasty and later Persian conquerors after Babylon fell in 539 BCE. Babylonian kings combined political, military, and religious authority. Their leadership shaped the city’s legacy and influence.
