How does the Jordan River affect the Dead Sea?

The Jordan River is actually the main source of fresh water flowing into the Dead Sea. Since so much of the river’s water gets diverted for farms and cities, less makes it to the Dead Sea these days. That’s one big reason the Dead Sea has been shrinking so fast. Environmental projects are looking for ways to save both the river and the sea. Without the Jordan, the Dead Sea’s future looks pretty tough.
