Is the Jordan River safe to swim in?

Most people don’t swim in the Jordan River like it’s a normal beach spot. The water levels are pretty low, and sometimes the flow is slow or muddy. That said, visitors do step in or get baptized at designated spots where it’s safe. The water itself is usually fine for that, but it’s not the kind of river you’d pick for a casual swim. Locals recommend sticking to official sites that are set up for visitors.
