What currency is used in Iceland?

Iceland uses the Icelandic króna, written as ISK. The króna has been the country’s currency since 1918, with the modern version introduced after World War II. Banknotes feature famous Icelandic figures, landscapes, and cultural symbols. Cash is still used, but cards and digital payments are extremely common throughout the country. The króna’s value can fluctuate due to global economic factors, especially tourism and fishing exports. ATMs are widespread in Reykjavik and other towns. The Icelandic króna reflects the country’s unique culture and strong economy.
