Lesotho uses the Lesotho loti, written as LSL, alongside the South African rand. Both currencies are accepted interchangeably throughout the country. Banknotes feature the king, local wildlife, and cultural symbols. Cash is the primary method of payment, though cards are accepted in larger towns and hotels. The loti is pegged to the rand, keeping its value stable. ATMs and exchange offices are mostly found in the capital, Maseru. The loti represents Lesotho’s independence and close economic ties with South Africa.
