Monaco uses the euro, written as EUR, even though it is not officially part of the Eurozone. The euro replaced the Monegasque franc in 2002. Cash, cards, and digital payments are widely accepted throughout the country. Monegasque euro coins feature national symbols and unique designs. Using the euro simplifies travel and trade across Europe. ATMs and banks are easily available in Monaco-Ville and Monte Carlo. The euro represents Monaco’s strong economic ties with the European Union.
