Peru uses the Peruvian sol, written as PEN. It has been the official currency since 1991 after replacing the inti. Banknotes feature national heroes, cultural symbols, and famous landmarks. Cash is widely used, though cards and mobile payments are accepted in larger cities like Lima and Cusco. Coins are used for smaller transactions. The sol’s value is relatively stable, managed by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru. The Peruvian sol reflects the country’s independence and vibrant culture.
