Taft focused a lot on trust-busting and continued some of Roosevelt’s reforms, even though they later had political disagreements. He actually brought more antitrust cases than Roosevelt did. He also worked on tariff reform, which ended up getting him into political trouble because different sides were unhappy with the results. Taft was big on legal precision, so he approached policy like a judge more than a politician. Some people say he was too cautious; others say he was careful and responsible. His style was very “by the book.” That’s why some policies felt slow but well-argued.
