Ubud doesn’t have a big public transport system the way cities do, so most visitors rely on taxis, ride-hailing apps like Grab, or renting a scooter to get around. Taxis are easy to flag down in the center, though they can be more expensive because big taxi brands aren’t as common there. Renting a scooter is super popular if you feel comfortable riding, and it’s usually the cheapest way to explore nearby rice terraces and waterfalls. Another option is hiring a driver for the day, which gives you flexibility to stop at multiple spots without worrying about parking or directions. If you just want to wander Ubud’s downtown area, lots of places are walkable but be ready for uneven sidewalks and traffic noise. Always agree on prices or check app fares before you go, since some local transport can be pricey for tourists. Just factor in extra time for traffic, especially around peak hours, because the narrow streets can get jammed.
