Can you stay on Komodo Island or do you need to stay in Labuan Bajo?

You can’t stay overnight on Komodo Island itself because it’s part of a protected national park with strict rules and no regular hotels. Instead, most visitors stay in Labuan Bajo, the nearby town on Flores where there are plenty of hotels, guesthouses, and restaurants. Some adventurous travelers choose multi-day liveaboard boat trips that let them sleep on the boat while exploring different spots in Komodo National Park. Liveaboard trips can be a fun way to see more of the area, like other islands and remote beaches. Staying on a boat also lets you catch sunrise and sunset views on the water. Day trips from Labuan Bajo are the most popular way to explore Komodo and then return to town in the evening. Whether you pick hotel stays or a boat adventure, Labuan Bajo is where your Komodo trip usually starts and ends.
