Can you live or work in Jalisco as an expat?

A lot of people choose to live in Jalisco thanks to its culture, lifestyle and growing opportunities, especially around Guadalajara. The state has become a tech hub in Mexico, with many global companies setting up offices and creating jobs. To work there as a foreigner, you’ll usually need a Temporary Resident Visa with work authorization from Mexican immigration. Cost of living can be lower than in many U.S. or Canadian cities, and many expats say they enjoy the food, climate and local community. Health care and modern services are generally accessible in the big cities, though smaller towns vary. Learning some Spanish helps a lot with everyday life and connecting with locals. Just like visiting, living in Jalisco means adjusting to local culture and understanding how things work in Mexico.
