What is the Beijing National Stadium (Bird’s Nest)?

The Beijing National Stadium, nicknamed the Bird’s Nest, is a world-famous sports venue in Beijing’s Olympic Park. Its steel lattice design looks just like a giant bird’s nest, and it’s become one of the city’s biggest modern landmarks. The stadium was built for the 2008 Summer Olympics, where it hosted the opening and closing ceremonies and many athletic events. Since then, it’s also been used for big concerts, exhibitions, and other major public events. It has a huge seating capacity that can reach up to around 91,000 people for special occasions. Architects from China and Europe worked together on the design to make it both strong and visually striking. Today, many visitors come just to snap photos of the outside or explore inside.
