Faurot Field currently has a seating capacity of a little over 61,000 fans for football games. The stadium has expanded many times since it first opened with only about 25,000 seats in the 1920s. Several major renovations added upper decks, new seating areas, and premium sections for fans. In earlier decades the stadium could temporarily hold more than 70,000 people during major games. The official record attendance reached more than 75,000 fans during a game against Penn State in 1980. Even today, a full crowd creates a loud and exciting atmosphere for Missouri Tigers football. The stadium is one of the largest sports venues in the state of Missouri.
