Where is Lascaux Cave located and how do you get there?

Lascaux Cave is located near the village of Montignac in the Dordogne region of southwestern France. It sits in the Vézère Valley, which is famous for prehistoric sites and ancient human history. The original cave is not open to the public anymore because it is too fragile to protect. Instead, visitors go to nearby replica sites like Lascaux II and the modern Lascaux IV center. Most people travel there by car since the area is rural and not directly connected by major train lines. Tours from larger cities like Bordeaux or Sarlat are also common for tourists. The whole region feels very scenic and quiet, with forests, rivers, and small French towns around it.
