Getting around is flexible: minibuses (marshrutkas) and intercity buses are cheap and cover most towns, while trains run on a few main routes like Tbilisi–Batumi and are comfy for longer groups. Renting a car gives you maximum freedom to reach remote valleys and mountain passes, but driving can be fast and road quality varies, so choose a local driver if you’re not confident. Domestic flights are available for some routes but rarely necessary unless you’re short on time. In cities, taxis and ride apps are affordable — just agree on a price or use a meter/app to avoid confusion. For hiking and alpine areas, book transfers with local tour operators because they know the roads and weather. If you want scenic freedom, rent a car; if you want cheap and social transport, go marshrutka — both work, depending on your style.
