Food in Georgia is a full-on joyful experience — shareable plates, bold flavors, and lots of cheese and bread. Don’t miss khachapuri (cheesy bread that sometimes arrives with a runny egg on top) and khinkali (big juicy dumplings you eat by hand like a pro). Georgia is one of the world’s oldest wine regions, and traditional qvevri-made wines are a must-try if you’re into natural, funky bottles. Expect lots of fresh herbs, walnuts, pomegranate, and sour plum sauces — the cuisine is hearty and very regional. Cafes and bakeries in Tbilisi serve great coffee and sweets, and late-night dining is a thing because Georgian dinners can run long. If you get invited to a home feast (supra), say yes — it’s the fastest way to taste the best home-cooked dishes. Basically, come hungry and be ready to toast a lot.
