The official languages of Sudan are Arabic and English. Arabic is the most widely spoken language and is used in daily life, government, and media. English is used in education, business, and international communication. There are also many local languages, such as Nubian, Beja, and Fur, spoken by different ethnic groups. Most Sudanese people are bilingual, switching between Arabic and their local language. The variety of languages reflects the country’s vast cultural and regional diversity. Arabic in Sudan has its own dialect, known as Sudanese Arabic, which is warm and expressive.
