The official language of Syria is Arabic. It’s spoken by almost everyone and used in schools, media, and government. The Syrian dialect of Arabic is known for its soft and melodic tone. Kurdish is also widely spoken in the northern regions, and there are smaller communities speaking Armenian, Turkmen, and Aramaic. English and French are taught in schools and used in business. Many Syrians are bilingual, switching between Arabic and another language depending on context. The country’s linguistic landscape reflects its ancient history and diverse cultural influences.
