The official language of Tajikistan is Tajik, a variety of Persian written in the Cyrillic alphabet. It’s spoken by most people and used in government, education, and media. Russian is also widely spoken, especially in business and interethnic communication. In rural areas, you can also hear Uzbek and other regional languages. Many Tajiks understand and speak both Tajik and Russian fluently. The language has deep roots in Persian literature and culture. Tajik serves as a symbol of national pride and unity for the people of Tajikistan.
