The official languages of Tanzania are Swahili and English. Swahili is the national language and is used in daily life, schools, and government. English is mostly used in business, higher education, and international communication. There are also over 120 local languages spoken across the country. Most Tanzanians are multilingual, switching easily between Swahili, English, and their native language. Swahili unites people of different ethnic backgrounds and is known for its smooth rhythm and simplicity. The widespread use of Swahili reflects Tanzania’s strong sense of national identity.
