Did George Washington really have wooden teeth?

This is one of the most common myths about him, but no, his teeth were not made of wood. He actually had dentures made from materials like ivory, metal, and even animal teeth. They weren’t very comfortable and caused him a lot of pain. Washington struggled with dental issues most of his life. Some of the dentures looked stained or rough, which might be why people assumed they were wooden. Even though the myth isn’t true, it stuck around because it sounds quirky. But his dental problems were very real and definitely not fun.
