Who was James Madison and why is he important in American history?

James Madison was the fourth president of the United States and one of the main architects behind the Constitution. People call him the “Father of the Constitution” because he helped shape how the U.S. government works. He also wrote many of the Federalist Papers, which explained why the new system made sense. Even though he wasn’t a loud or flashy guy, he had a huge impact on early America. Madison believed strongly in balancing power and protecting individual rights. His ideas still guide how the country operates today. That’s why he’s such a key figure in U.S. history.
