Is the LHC dangerous in any way?

Despite some public fears before it launched, the LHC is not dangerous. Some speculative concerns involved the creation of microscopic black holes or strange matter, but extensive studies have shown that such events, if they occurred, would pose no threat. The energy levels in the LHC, while high for a particle accelerator, are tiny compared to natural cosmic ray collisions that occur in Earth’s atmosphere every day. International safety reviews have concluded that the LHC is completely safe to operate. Its experiments follow strict scientific and safety protocols.
