What are some major experiments or detectors at the LHC?

The LHC hosts several major experiments, each with a different focus. ATLAS and CMS are general-purpose detectors used to search for a wide range of new particles, including the Higgs boson. ALICE focuses on heavy-ion collisions to study the state of matter shortly after the Big Bang. LHCb examines the behavior of particles containing b-quarks to help explain the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe. These experiments involve thousands of scientists and engineers from institutions around the world.
