Neil Armstrong grew up in Ohio and was pretty much obsessed with flying from a super young age, which honestly shaped his whole future. His family moved around a bit because his dad worked for the state government, but Neil always found time to hang around airports. He was a quiet kid, more on the shy side, and spent tons of time reading about planes. Even as a teenager, he got his pilot’s licence before he even got his driver’s licence. His family supported his aviation dreams even though it wasn’t exactly a typical path. His childhood was pretty normal otherwise, but his passion for flight made him stand out. It’s clear that his early years basically set the stage for him to become an astronaut.
