Visiting the Titanic wreck site is extremely difficult and only a small number of people have ever been there. The depth and pressure require specially designed submersibles that can safely travel nearly 4 kilometers underwater. These missions are expensive and typically organized by scientific teams or private exploration companies. Each dive can take several hours just to reach the wreck on the ocean floor. Because the site is considered a maritime grave and protected cultural heritage site, strict rules govern exploration. Artifacts cannot be removed freely, and many countries treat the wreck as a memorial. Most people experience the site through documentaries, photographs, and museum exhibitions instead.
